All Roads Lead to Sheridan Station...

Sheridan with 60 Billion people at TL 12 outnumbers the star-faring population (over TL 9) of the Even sub-sector by 60:1.  The three major conglomerates that run Sheridan are in constant competition, and are fighting proxy wars throughout in the Even subsector and beyond.   The Federation of Heron is pit vipers and small time criminal interests who all owe some form of allegiance to the conglomerates of Sheridan.   The Conglomerate primary business is moving shit tons of weapons to buyers across the entire Sector.  Safely tucked away in a far corner of Glimmerdrift Reaches, they are immune from the interstellar rivalries in the center of the Sector.  They have never faced any foes, as each conglomerate has information networks that cover almost every world in Glimmerdrift and beyond. Each conglomerate,  The Graboshki Trade Consortium ,  Yanadana Interstellar  and  Chellobhago Development Corp.  are sector spanning co...

Calculating GWP Using the T5 Resource Value, Not RUs

Resources  : Resources are exploitable natural resources, minerals, ores, metals, energy sources, biological assets, and any other items of limited availability. -  T5, Book3, p.27 Resources = 2d6 + (if TL>8) + GG + PB = (2 – 12) + (0 – 4) + (0 – 3) = Range 2 – 19, AVG ~ 9- 10 Glimmerdrift Reaches GWP compare Nobody seems to have taken the components of the T5 Economic Extension, specifically the Resource value, and discussed it outside of Resource Units. How many “Raw” Resources does a planet need to be self-sufficient, to be poor, to be rich? I’m not using the T5 RU formula in MTU, I think it needs to be tweaked. But I decided to look at the components, starting with Resources. My goal is to use the data from T5 to tweak my Striker based GWP model, because I still can’t spend RU’s at a shipyard. Consider two worlds,  Alpha  with a population of 3 million and  Beta  a population of 2 billion, both with a Raw Resource score of 12. That’s  40...

Glimmerdrift 1105: Shukikikar League

Originally posted to Citizens of the Imperium (CotI) (1) The States of Glimmerdrift Reaches | Citizens of the Imperium (travellerrpg.com)   I’ve been working from “Gateway to Destiny” circa 990, primarily using the political descriptions, forward to 1105 as a framework, not canon, to create a “history” of how the current map evolved. One important thing that I observed is that the population numbers were totally re-written, especially in Crucis Margin, and rather than try to reconcile that with mass migration or mass extinction, I’ve been using my own recalculated population figures from an 1105 baseline. The UWP and population figures below are directly from the 1105 data at  https://travellermap.com , because I haven’t retconned them yet. Between 990 and 1105  The Federate Republic  consisted of 11 worlds with a population of 215 mm, highest TL 12, although the majority of the population ~ 165 mm are TL6. Somewhere in that timeframe it ceased to exist. The Federate...
