The Competition: The Three Largest Independent Starship Yards in the Gateway Sector

Sheridan has two primary competitors in the Gateway Sector: Haytch Dash Ten, usually abreviated H-10: Glimmerdrift: Sosie (2124) and Galvestar: Gateway: Denkard (2008).

H-10 Produces about 50% more ships than Sheridan and at a higher TL 14.  However H-10 is a Bureacracy, and the purchasing process can be excruciating and long, and not all governments are qualified buyers.

Galvestar produces TL 11 ships, suitable for most purposes, but only had about a sixth of the capacity of Sheridan, and perhaps 10% of H-10s capacity.  Galvestar is ruled by a dictatorship which does not sell to governments that it finds idealogically offensive (at least not publicly).

There are a few other Independent yards with less than 5% of Sheridan's shipbuilding capacity, in the Gateway Sector:

  • Dover Gateway:  Ashton (2423) TL 10 - Dictatorship
  • TsavoCrucis Margin: Bright Heavens (1125) TL 11 - Balkanized
  • AluudiGlimmerdrift: Darkling (703) TL14 - Civil Bureacracy
  • LunarmiseGlimmerdrift: Tasman (2611) TL13 - Captive of Idam Lee 2410
  • LikhapGlimmerdrift: Sosie (1925) TL11 - Bureacracy
The remaining large capacity "commercial" shipyards are aligned with the various political entities within the Sector, which most likely do not produce military starships for export.  There are several planets which have government run military shipyards, and build starships for their own navies, but not for export.  Some of these planets may sell or loan surplus ships on occasion, including Phoniwt, Fal and Luni
