Introduction: Sheridan Station
I've been working on a new Traveler Campaign during the Corona Virus and it's all sitting on my computer, doing no one else any good. I saw another blog where a referee had posted an amazing amount of good material and I decided that I should put my modicum amount of medicore material into a blog for reference, for players and anyone else in the community who might be interested.
What is Sheridan Station?
Sheridan is a planet in the OTU (Official Traveler Universe) located in the Even Subsector of the Glimmerdrift Reaches Sector (0324). Spinward of Sheridan is the Delphi Rift, 7 parscs Rimward of Sheridan is The Imperium Domain of Gateway. Trailing and Coreward are numerous Non Aligned Human Worlds, States, Confederations and Unions. These are all customers or potential purchasers for Sheridan's numerous and enormous Tech Level 12 shipyards.
Sheridan Station is the hub of commercial and military shipbuilding activity that reaches out across the Glimmerdrift Reaches, and spans further into the Gateway Sector. Sheridan is a Strong World. My notes and observations are extrapolated from 1105 Classic Era data, found at the https://travellermap.com. This is, IMO, the most amazing online tool for the OTU, since IE killed Netscape.

Sixty Billion inhabitants are ruled by a Charismatic Oligarchy. The Oligarchy consists of a number of industrial conglomerate families that own either a shipyard, boat yard, or industry that produces key components for export.
Their rivalry for resources, including labor, and market share induces them to pay their employees relatively well, when compared to other societies. This in turn keeps the economy humming, and the populace sated. Family "Businesses" are competitive, but rarely, if ever, violent towards one another.
Sheridan is the largest and least ethical manufacturer of starships and military hardware in the quadrant. Various Corporate Families have competing ship and boat yards that will build anything for anyone for the right price. Sheridan’s corporate starships, which are usually under-armed warships, travel throughout the quadrant, offering service and support to customers. These travels are goodwill exercises, customer service calls, and also marketing missions. Each ship is available for sale; and demonstrations are available to prospective clients. Sheridan’s "Independent Corporate Naval Forces" actively patrol all of the systems in the Even Subsector keeping, an eye out for unsanctioned piracy, Imperial meddling and always for new customers.
Sheridan Station is a commercial hub for trading and brokering goods from across the sector. Payment for Sheridan starships is accepted in almost any form, and the selling corporations come to own mineral rights, raw resources, agricultural surplus and trade goods throughout the sector. Generally, these are traded to other parties, long before they leave the source world, as the cost of transport makes it unprofitable to ship the tangible goods to Sheridan. Holding rights on a world more than ten parsecs away would also require logistical expenses that reduce profitability.
Sheridan Station is also a hotbed of intrigue and espionage where rival governments from across the sector and beyond vie to track one another’s military purchasing activity.
